Birchbox vs. Glossybox vs. Ipsy Glam Bag ~ October Edition

Hi lovelies!  Sorry for the delay, but it's finally here!  My monthly head to head to head!  Curious how the 3 most popular beauty subscription boxes (and bag!) stack up?  Not sure which one (or two or three!) you want to subscribe to?  Have no fear, my dear, as I bring you October's edition of Birchbox vs. Glossybox vs. Ipsy Glam Bag!  {Click to see how they stack up!}

This month's Birchbox was all about 'Beauty Buzz', with a box devoted to award winners, celeb faves, and all the other products Birchbox staffers are obsessed with.  While I looooove the lip products, I wasn't entirely sold on the others.  Want to see each product in better detail?  Birchbox October Review.

Glossybox curated a collection of some amazing beauty products with the newly launched online magazine, Byrdie.   I flipped over most of the products, especially the tarte mascara!  Want to see my review?  Glossybox October Review.

Ipsy had a 'The Art of Beauty' theme and included some amazing products to cover all aspects of any look.  Every product is amazing,  Want to see each product again?  Ipsy October Review.

Here's my breakdown:

Birchbox ~ Cost $10
Alison Raffaele Reality Base Foundation ~ $3
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser ~ $6.52
Liz Earle Pure Muslin Cloth ~ $3
Pop Beauty Aqua Laquer ~ $14
Chapstick Hydration Lock ~ $2.99
============================================
Total Value $29.51

Glossybox ~ Cost $21
Balance Me Shine On Tinted Lip Salve ~ $16.50
Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Vert Eau de Cologne ~ $5.78
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream ~ $12.35
Sesha Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Mask ~ $9
Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara ~ $23
===============================================
Total Value $66.63

Ipsy Glam Bag ~ Cost $10
Nourish Organic Body Lotion ~ $1.25
Ofra Lip Gloss Plumper ~ $12.95
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum ~ $12
Sexy Hair Spray Clay ~ $6.99
Zoya Nail Polish ~ $8
==============================
Total Value $41.19

*All prices were calculated by creating a ratio of the cost of the full size to it's size and then applying that to the sample size to arrive at a price.  For example, if something costs $10 for 1 ounce, and a 1/2 ounce sample is received, I'm valuing it at $5.  Make sense?

THE VERDICT
While Birchbox came in with a value of nearly three times its cost, the products aren't really much I will use.  I have thousands of lip glosses and chapsticks, and while I do love them, I'm not certain they will get a lot of use.  Glossybox also came in with a value of three times its cost, and had some fabulous products, all of which will get tons of use!  Ipsy continues in its fashion of knocking it out of the park with incredible products and a bag valued over four times its cost!

THE WINNER
Yet again, is clearly Ipsy.  These products are all must-haves, in my opinion, and I have them all in the bag in my purse, because they are great to have on-hand!  Glossybox gets my vote for silver, with an incredibly curated box of some fabulous products that I am looooving!  If its value were higher (for example, if the Fresh cream were a full size rather than travel sized), I would have given it the gold.  Finally, Birchbox left me wanting more, and wondering if I was missing something!  So, it gets the bronze.

Who would you pick as the winner?  Did I get it right?

  2. Immer wieder schön zu sehen, was sich in diesen Kosmetikboxen befindet. Wer probierfreudig ist, der macht mit einer solchen Box nichts falsch.
