DIY ~ Neon Polka Dot Tote Bag #TulipNeon

Hi lovelies!  I was recently sent a bunch of neon goodies from I Love to Create and had so much fun deciding what project to do first with them!  I really love the pink/orange/green dimensional fabric paint, so I decided to contrast their vibrant colors with a bright blue tote bag!

For my bag, I used this great bright blue tote bag (find one like it at your craft store!) and the dimensional fabric paint.

To make the bag, draw circles and dots of varying sizes randomly all over the bag.  That's all!  It's super easy and fun to do, the longest part is letting it dry thoroughly.

Pack it up with your must-haves, or use it to tote fresh goodies from the farmers market in chic style.

My Mani ~ The 80s Called

Hi lovelies!  Today's mani is such a fun one, I can't even explain how much I love it.  The best part is that the pics do this yellow absolutely no justice; it's friggen highlighter neon yellow!  With notice-me nails like this, it's best to keep everything else neutral and calm... or not ;-)  I may have worn matching earrings and a t-shirt too! My Shoes Are So Loud I Can't Hear You

Hiya lovelies!  Who says you can't still wear neons?  I say I don't care, I'll wear them whenever I want!  It's been in the 80s here in Denver, so it's hard to think fall, even with the gorgeous aspen trees' leaves turning gold.  Speaking of aspens, there is this bakery or something, and the back of their trucks say: "How's Your Aspen?"  LMAO I laugh so hard I cry whenever I see it.

Neon Pops

Hey lovelies!  I thought I'd share my outfit from the other day with you :)  I wish I had accessorized more, but I didn't :(

I love this because it's a white outfit with pops of neon!  LOVE!

Sunnies: Target, Shirt & Shorts: Walmart, Scarf: NY & Company, Clutch: Ava Rose, Wedges: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx

These wedges are amazing.  They are suede straps, and the color seriously just blends in to my skin tone.  Isn't it ridiculous??  Plus, they were on clearance at TJ Maxx for $39.  I almost peed.  The original price was like $140 or something.  IN-SANE.

Neon Colorblocking Outfit

It's so nice out today, and I was just about to take the kids to the pool, when the friggen clouds and wind came in.  Efffff.  Oh well.  The sun will come out tomorrow... hahahaha!  (pun intended)

30 Days of DIY: Day 30 ~ Cobra Stitch Neon Rope Bracelet

Taking it back to summer camp, only chic-er!  I've been meaning to make a bunch of these and finally made one tonight.  I used some rope I bought at Home Depot, but I've also bought some jump ropes at the dollar store to use as well!

You will need rope, scissors, lighter, clasp, jump ring(s).

I ended up using about 7 feet of rope (1 foot per inch in circumference of your wrist).  Attach the clasp by folding the rope in half and looping it through.  Add about an inch to the circumference of your wrist and then attach the jump ring the clasp will attach to there.  Now, begin your cobra knots!  Keep going until you reach your jump ring that marks the end.  When you are done, cut the excess rope and use your lighter to singe the ends.  Let cool for a few seconds, and then press into the woven bracelet - it will 'melt' in. 

There it is!  I plan on making a bunch of different colors and stacking them.  I think they will look super cute with a tank an shorts this summer, what do you think?

I've really loved doing this 30 Days of DIY posts, and it's definitely challenged me.  Although a little late, I was able to wrap it all up, and I am so proud I did!  I'm working on some BIG changes for the blog, stay tuned, I'll be announcing it all tomorrow!  Thanks so much for following my DIYs!

30 Days of DIY: Day 12 ~ DIY Neon Feather Earrings

Feathers are everywhere!  As are neons, and colorblocking too!  How about combining all three?  Yes please!

Materials:

• Feathers
• Squeeze crimps
• 2 jump rings
• 2 earring hooks

I bought this bag of neon feathers at Hobby Lobby for $1.99.  I am so excited at the trillion of possible things I can make with them, but needed something quick and easy tonight as Bella had dance and gymnastics.  I really like the combo of the green and pink feathers so I picked them out and tried to find ones with similar-ish shape.

I think these are perfect!  The plumes require a little trimming, but the rest is so similar that it will work!  Besides, I don't want them to be too perfect.  Imperfection is key for me.

Trim the tops so that they are roughly the same height.

Take a clamp and place it over the cut plumes.

Now use your pliers and squeeze it secure.  Repeat for the other.

Here's what you should now have.

Now attach a jump ring and an earring hook to each clamp's loop.

You're done!  Rock these with pretty much anything!!  I would love to see them with a bright outfit, to enhance colorblocking, or as a standout accessory among a neutral outfit.  Perfection either way!  I plan to do more fabulousness with these feathers, so subscribe on GFC if you haven't yet!

30 Days of DIY: Day 9 ~ Kate Spade Hello Sunshine Inspired Neon Trim Straw Tote

So this took a little longer than I expected, sorry for posting so late!  When I saw the Kate Spade Hello Sunshine straw tote, I wanted to make it sooo bad, but I didn't want it to be an overt 'copy' of it.  I was inspired by it and immediately thought of a design, using some neon rope I had recently bought at Home Depot.  I picked up the plain, bright pink lined tote at Target for $2.50!!

Materials:

• Plain straw tote
• Neon rope (I've used two different kinds, the design is up to you!)
• Glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Scissors 

Take the rope to make the dots with and coil it two or three times around itself.  Holding that, use your glue gun and put a nickel size squiggle of glue on the bag.  Place the mini coil on the glue, and now add more glue, and keep coiling until your dot has reached the desired size.  Make sure to really glue the frayed ends, so that they don't get out of control.  I also used the tip of the glue gun to push the end against the coil.

Here's one finished dot!  I did all of them different sizes and scattered them randomly all over the bag.

Here you can see the different sizes.  Repeat over and over until you have the coverage you want.

This step is optional, but I really don't like the scratchy handles, so I wanted to cover them too.  I took this neon pink and white rope and glued and wrapped it around the handle.  I glued every inch of it down, since this being on the handle it could easily come dislodged. 

And here's the final product!  It took a while, but it is so worth it.  I can think of countless outfits I can accessorize with this and cannot wait to start rocking it!  What do you think?  If you make it, let me know and send pics!

30 Days of DIY: Day 6 ~ Anthropologie Acrobatics Inspired Necklace

Tribal inspired jewelry is a hot trend right now, as is neons!  Why not combine them?  When I first spied the Anthropologie Acrobatics Necklace, I nearly died.  I loved it.  But $168 for vinyl covered paperclips seemed a bit much, and the project screamed DIY.  I had started this quite some time ago, but never finished....until tonight!  I know Kirsten of studs and pearls did her own version last month, and it was fabulous!  Well, here's mine!

Materials:

• Different colored duck tape (I only chose to work with two colors)
• Large paperclips (I think 55)
• Scissors
• Jump rings
• Jewelry pliers 
• Necklace Clasp

Cut strips of duck tape a little shorter than the length of the paper clip.  You want the edges open to put the jump rings through.  Wrap the strip all the way around the paper clip.

You should have this.

Repeat over and over and over.

Then switch to another color and keep repeating....

Once you have enough clips covered, begin assembling, using the Anthro version as your template.  I used jump rings to connect the clips together.

And the finished product!

Here's how it hangs when worn.  I love this.
