Hi lovelies!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend!  If you watched my beauty haul vlog last week, I showed you this amazing new Feathers collection polish in 'Brighton' by Nails Inc.  While I initially thought the feathered effect referred to bar glitter, I soon found out it does not!  Well of course I had to try it out!  {Click for more!}

12 DIYs of Christmas ~ Day 8: DIY Ornament Mini Chandelier

Hey lovelies!  I wanted to share with you some of my sexy old Christmas ornaments I made 10 years ago, back when I made my feather wreath.  Some of them actually are made with the leftover feather boa from the wreath! 

Since they don't go with my current Christmas tree decor, I still wanted to use them somehow.  I made a mini chandelier out of them!  I made a loop out of ribbon, and then knotted a ribbon to each ornament hook, and knotted the other end of the ribbon to the loop.  Here it is, my sexy ornament mini chandelier:

12 DIYs of Christmas ~ Day 6 ~ DIY Feather Wreath

Why hello there, lovelies!  After working a 17 hour day yesterday, I decided that I shouldn't have to work today.  I think that's some sound logic there, right?  Anyways, I am spending the day being as productive as I can, which means lots of blogging, cleaning, decorating, wrapping presents, etc.

Today's DIY is actually one I made 10 years ago, I remember because it was my daughter's first Christmas. I'll be sharing some of the ornaments I made then too.  My theme was a sexy white and red tree and decor :)  So of course I needed a sexy wreath, naturally.  While I don't have the steps documented (sorry!) this was so easy that it really doesn't require much.

30 Days of DIY: Day 12 ~ DIY Neon Feather Earrings

Feathers are everywhere!  As are neons, and colorblocking too!  How about combining all three?  Yes please!

Materials:

• Feathers
• Squeeze crimps
• 2 jump rings
• 2 earring hooks

I bought this bag of neon feathers at Hobby Lobby for $1.99.  I am so excited at the trillion of possible things I can make with them, but needed something quick and easy tonight as Bella had dance and gymnastics.  I really like the combo of the green and pink feathers so I picked them out and tried to find ones with similar-ish shape.

I think these are perfect!  The plumes require a little trimming, but the rest is so similar that it will work!  Besides, I don't want them to be too perfect.  Imperfection is key for me.

Trim the tops so that they are roughly the same height.

Take a clamp and place it over the cut plumes.

Now use your pliers and squeeze it secure.  Repeat for the other.

Here's what you should now have.

Now attach a jump ring and an earring hook to each clamp's loop.

You're done!  Rock these with pretty much anything!!  I would love to see them with a bright outfit, to enhance colorblocking, or as a standout accessory among a neutral outfit.  Perfection either way!  I plan to do more fabulousness with these feathers, so subscribe on GFC if you haven't yet!

30 Days of DIY: Day 8 ~ DIY Peacock Feather Earrings

I have been seeing peacock feather earrings everywhere.  And as much as I love them, I am not going to drop $25 or even $5 on them when I can make my own for so much cheaper!  I picked these feathers up at Hobby Lobby the other night for $2.29, and had everything else at home.  PS - these came with a clear loop attached to the plume already - GENIUS!

Materials:

• Peacock feathers (with the loop attached is ideal)
• 2 earring hooks
• Chain (optional)
• Jewelry pliers 

Lay the chain next to your feather to determine how long you would like it to be.  I just wanted mine long enough to "cover" the plume.  Use your jewelry plier to separate a link, remove the remainder of the chain, and re-close the link.  Repeat for the other feather.

Here's what you should have, but doubled :)

Using your jewelry pliers, open the loop at the bottom of the earring hook and slide on your chain and feather; close the loop.  Repeat for the other earring.

And there you have it!!  For a little over $2 and about 5 minutes of your time, you can now rock peacock feather earrings, a must-have spring and summer accessory!
