DIY Nautical Hurricane Candle Holder
Hi lovelies! I've been wanting to make this candle holder since I first saw the Nate Berkus for Target ones. I instantly fell in love with it, but knew I could create the same thing for much less money.
You'll need:
- A cylinder glass vase (got mine from the dollar store!)
- Some rope (this is from Home Depot)
- Some woven cotton trim, used for making belts (this is from the trims section at Joann's)
- Two nailhead studs with prongs (these I used are old ones from M&J Trimming, and have a nautical feel to them)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors

DIY: Calypso St. Barth Inspired Braided Wrap Bracelet
I fell in LOVE with these Calypso St. Barth braided wrap bracelets at Target, but am not going to spend $15 on a bracelet I can make for sooo much less!
I had all the items I needed in my craft closet!I wanted my bracelet to wrap around 4 times, so I measured out the rope to be about 4.5 times the circumference of my wrist, measured loosely. Cut another piece of rope the same length as well as a length of chain. Attach one end of the chain to a jump ring. Knot both pieces of rope to the jump ring, and finally attach one end of the clasp to the jump ring before closing it. Use a lighter to melt the ends of the rope and push the ends into each knot, kind of gluing them together.
Braid it all, and repeat the process for the other jump ring on the end. Trim any excess rope and chain.
And wear it! I used silver chain and red rope, but I'm going to get some different colors as well and use some gold chain and some copper (faux rose gold) chain too! Stay tuned, I'll post more pics!
So what do you think? Love? I do! Maybe I'll add these to my etsy shop once I get it up....

30 Days of DIY: Day 30 ~ Cobra Stitch Neon Rope Bracelet
Taking it back to summer camp, only chic-er! I've been meaning to make a bunch of these and finally made one tonight. I used some rope I bought at Home Depot, but I've also bought some jump ropes at the dollar store to use as well!
You will need rope, scissors, lighter, clasp, jump ring(s).
I ended up using about 7 feet of rope (1 foot per inch in circumference of your wrist). Attach the clasp by folding the rope in half and looping it through. Add about an inch to the circumference of your wrist and then attach the jump ring the clasp will attach to there. Now, begin your cobra knots! Keep going until you reach your jump ring that marks the end. When you are done, cut the excess rope and use your lighter to singe the ends. Let cool for a few seconds, and then press into the woven bracelet - it will 'melt' in.
There it is! I plan on making a bunch of different colors and stacking them. I think they will look super cute with a tank an shorts this summer, what do you think?
I've really loved doing this 30 Days of DIY posts, and it's definitely challenged me. Although a little late, I was able to wrap it all up, and I am so proud I did! I'm working on some BIG changes for the blog, stay tuned, I'll be announcing it all tomorrow! Thanks so much for following my DIYs!
