12 DIYs of Christmas ~ Day 4 ~ DIY Metallic 3D Diamonds

Hi lovelies!  I was recently trying to figure out how to make some pretty 3D diamond shapes to use for decorating.  When I realized how simple it was once I found the right material, I couldn't stop making them!  You won't believe how easy these are to make, seriously!  {Click for the how-to!}

You'll need : 6 pipe cleaners.

How-to:

  • Take 4 pipe cleaners and fold them in half into a V-shape.
  • Insert one into the other and wrap the ends of one around the vertex of the other.
  • Repeat with the other two V-shapes.
  • Take another pipe cleaner and wrap its end around one of the edges you made, about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way up.
  • Leave about 1.5" in between edges, and wrap the pipe cleaner around the next one.
  • You'll run out, so take the last pipe cleaner and twist its end to the one you're running out of.
  • When you reach the first edge, wrap the pipe cleaner around it and snip the excess.
  • Take the excess and make a circle about 2" in diameter, wrapping the ends around.
  • Attach the circle to the tops of your diamond's sides by wrapping the top half of each side around the circle.
  • Bend each joint and straighten each edge so it has a more geometric look

These are so easy to make, I need to buy more pipe cleaners so I can make more!  I love sticking them on my tree branches as ornaments, but these look fantastic as a piece of decor on your bookshelf, mantle, wherever!
