12 DIYs of Christmas ~ Day 3 ~ DIY Vintage Brooch Napkin Rings

Hi lovelies!  This DIY is another super easy one for you!  Recently my mom sent me a box of 'goodies' - a bunch of stuff she figured I could use for DIY projects.  Well there were a bunch of these vintage Christmas brooches in there and I realized they'd make perfect napkin rings coupled with this gorgeous dupioni silk ribbon!  {How-to after the jump!}

You'll need:
How-to:
  • Cut a piece of ribbon about 14" long.  Cut it longer if you'd like to tie your ends in a bow; I like the raw edge instead.
  • Thread the brooch onto the ribbon.
  • Tie a simple knot to secure the brooch.
  • Wrap around a napkin and tie in the front, moving the knot under the brooch.

So simple, right?  I really love how the raw silk edges fray, it adds to the rustic glam look.  Here I opted to pair them with some plain tea-stained flour sack napkins. (Another simple DIY ~ simply add about 20 teabags to a large pot of water, bring to a full boil, remove from heat.  Add your napkins and let them sit in their dye bath for about an hour, stirring occasionally.  Rinse and dry.)

These make a great gift as well as a fun + easy way to spice up your holiday tablescape :)
