DIY ~ Tropical Leaf Earrings

Hi lovelies!  As we know, tropical palm prints are a huge trend for summer.  It's a little hard to incorporate into accessories, but I tapped into some of my projects past for a little inspiration and came up with these amazing tropical leaf earrings!  Want to learn how to make them?  {Click to keep reading!}

You'll need:

  • Shrinky dink plastic
  • Cutting board and craft knife
  • Painter's tape
  • Template (I did a google image search and found one that was the perfect size!  Remember it will shrink down to about 1/3 the original size)
  • Not shown: Hole punch, green nail polish (I used Sephora by OPI's Leaf Him at the Altar [now 50% off!]), jewelry pliers, 2 small jump rings, 2 earring hooks

Using my instructions from the Kate Spade inspired keychain, tape the template image to your plastic, use the craft knife to cut out, and use a hole punch to make the hole at the top.  Bake accordingly, again please reference the aforementioned tutorial to get the best results!

Now we're ready to paint!

This was after one coat on just one side.  You'll want to do two coats on both sides, as well as a coat on the edges.

Done!

Time to assemble the earrings!

Open your jump ring, attach the leaf and the earring wire to it, and twist it shut.  Repeat for the other one.

All done!  How perfect are these?  They fit the mood perfectly and the gold tone hardware I used perfectly  complements the vibe.  Now even the most plain of outfits can be easily 'Island Glam-ed' up with these earrings!

How would you wear these?
