DIY ~ Sunburst Mirror Wall Decor

Hi lovelies!  Today's DIY is one I made a while ago, but forgot to post!  I needed some wall decor, so I hit up the dollar store for the supplies and am so excited with how well it came out!  {Keep reading for the how-to!}

You'll need:

  • Small mirror (this is actually a candle trivet!)
  • Bamboo Skewers
  • Spray paint
  • Glue Gun
  • Small piece of wire
  • Not shown: styrofoam piece, newspaper, E-6000 glue

Stick all the pointy ends of the skewers into a piece of styrofoam and place it on newspaper.  Spray paint until they're covered pretty well and let dry thoroughly.

Gather your supplies, remove any felt feet from the back of the trivet.

Find the center, and glue four skewers creating four equal quadrants to the back (just eyeball it as best you can)

Keep eyeballing it, and bisect each angle (glue a skewer in half of each space created by the previous skewer) working one quadrant at a time.

They should fit in like so, and this will give the ends a semi-uneven look since they're staggered.  Now keep bisecting and gluing to finish the quadrant!

One quadrant done.

And the whole thing is done!  Ignore the messy look, it's going to be hidden anyways :)

Bend a short piece of wire into a shape similar to above.

Use some E-6000 glue to glue the ends of the wire piece to just above the center of the skewer end, as shown above.  Let it dry thoroughly.

Hang it up and admire!  Notice the photobomb by both Bella and her One Direction headphones in the pic :)

Hope you like this, it was so easy to make and looks so chic!
