DIY Nautical Hurricane Candle Holder

Hi lovelies!  I've been wanting to make this candle holder since I first saw the Nate Berkus for Target ones.  I instantly fell in love with it, but knew I could create the same thing for much less money.

You'll need:

• A cylinder glass vase (got mine from the dollar store!)
• Some rope (this is from Home Depot)
• Some woven cotton trim, used for making belts (this is from the trims section at Joann's)
• Two nailhead studs with prongs (these I used are old ones from M&J Trimming, and have a nautical feel to them)
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Scissors

Start hot gluing your rope to the bottom of the vase, winding it around and gluing as you go.  Make sure to stop and cut your rope above where you first glued your rope.  Don't worry about this 'spiraling' spot, it will soon be hidden. :)

Now to hide this awkward place where the rope spirals.

Cut a piece of your trim slightly longer than the area to be covered.

Attach your nailheads to the piece you cut, folding the prongs back on the underside.

Use some hot glue and affix the piece of trim over the awkward spiraling spot, covering over and under where the rope starts and ends.



It should look something like this.

All done!  Make one, make a bunch!  I love how easy this was to make (it really only took about 20 minutes total), how inexpensive it was, and how fabulous it looks!
