DIY ~ Nautical Neon Rope Coasters

Hello lovelies!  I wanted to do a little DIY to inject some spring color into my living room.  And with my beachy themed decor, these nautical inspired neon rope coasters are the perfect addition. {More after the break}

What you'll need:

  • Neon rope (mine is from the Home Depot)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Sharpie
  • Something round to trace the shape of your coasters onto the felt

I used this extra large mug and traced four circles onto the felt using the Sharpie marker.

Cut out your circles.  These are the base of your coasters.

Fold the circle into fourths, and use the Sharpie to mark the center point.

When you unfold it, this is what it looks like.

Begin coiling your rope, gluing along the way.

Once you have a good little coil, glue it down onto the felt, matching the center of your coil to the center mark you made earlier.

Keep adding glue to the felt and side of coil to continue building your coil. I extended my coils one circumference past the end of the felt, so the felt was hidden.

Finished product!  I decided to make four different colored ones, but you can make as many as you want in the same color, or you could use multiple colors for each one!  The possibilities are endless!

I love how these came out so much that I think I may make some placemats for my table as well!

  2. These are super cute...I'm thinking they would make fantastic cuffs (well not they...but the concept)...to either wrap an existing cuff with the rope, or make your own with fabric...next DIY? haha
