DIY ~ Mixed Metals & Rhinestone Necklace

Hi lovelies!  Today's DIY is a super fun one, possibly my favorite yet!  There are so many possibilities with this one, you can deconstruct a few necklaces/bracelets for the chain, the pendant - you'll never believe what it was! - could come from anything, and you can further jazz it up by adding more to it!  I opted to keep mine simple, I love the mixed metals and textures as is.  {Click for the how-to!}

You'll need:

  • A ring (I think we all have these fun ones with the stretchy band that fits all sizes.  If not, a regular one will do too!  You could also use an existing pendant, an old brooch, an earring, etc.  Get creative!)
  • Chain (I raided my stash, but use whatever you can get your hands on!)
  • Medium jump rings
  • Closure
  • Jewelry pliers
How-to:
  • Cut the elastic to remove the ring from the attachment.  If you're using something attached, use some wire cutters to remove it from it's backing.
  • Plan & lay out your design.
  • Use jump rings to attach your piece to the chain.  There were some open spaces in mine, I attached from there.  You could use a small drill to drill holes into your piece if need be (easier than it sounds, I promise!)
  • Attach the chains together.
  • Add a clasp.

So easy, right?  I think that from start to finish, this took me about 5 minutes to make and it's now a one of a kind statement piece that I don't want to take off!  Use your imagination with this one, you could easily make a fun bracelet instead, and there are infinite options depending on what you have that you aren't wearing!
