Birchbox vs. Glossybox vs. Ipsy Glam Bag ~ January 2014 Edition

Hi lovelies!  Sorry for the delay, but it's finally here! My monthly head to head to head! Curious how the 3 most popular beauty subscription boxes (and bag!) stack up? Not sure which one (or two or three!) you want to subscribe to? Have no fear, my dear, as I bring you October's edition of Birchbox vs. Glossybox vs. Ipsy Glam Bag! {Click to see how they stack up!}

This month's Glossybox was spot on for me.  I loved every item I received, especially the marker/eyeliner!  Want to see my review?  Glossybox December Review.

Birchbox curated a fantastic box for December, I especially love the hand lotion and the CC cream.  Want to see each product in better detail?  Birchbox December Review.

Ipsy amazingly put together a bag filled with holiday essentials - not to mention everything you need to create a perfect holiday look!  Want to see each product again?  Ipsy December Review.

Here's the breakdown:

Birchbox ~ Cost $10
Eslor Skincare System ~ $15.48
Fatty Sundays Gourmet Chocolate Covered Pretzels ~ $0.42
Supergoop! Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream ~ $2.03
The Honest Company Organic Healing Balm ~ $3.24
Number 4 Non Aerosol Hairspray ~ $4.48
===========================================
TOTAL VALUE  $25.65

Glossybox ~ Cost $21
Anatomicals You Need A Blooming Shower! ~ $2.75
Ardency Inn PUNKER World's Baddest Eyeliner ~ $19
Michael Todd True Organics Pumpkin Mask ~ $10
Nails Inc. Victoria Polish ~ $9.50
Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizing ~ $26.14
========================================
TOTAL VALUE  $67.39

Ipsy Glam Bag ~ Cost $10
Be A Bombshell The One Stick in Flustered ~ $16
Starrily Nail Polish in Bzzz Bzzz ~ $5
Andrea Strip Lashes 33 ~ $3.99
Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Smokin' Hot ~ $7.20
NYX Lipstick in Sunflower ~ $4
=====================================
TOTAL VALUE  $36.19

*All prices were calculated by creating a ratio of the cost of the full size to it's size and then applying that to the sample size to arrive at a price. For example, if something costs $10 for 1 ounce, and a 1/2 ounce sample is received, I'm valuing it at $5. Make sense?

THE VERDICT
Birchbox was fun this month, but the fact that 4 foil one time use packets made up for 60% of the box's value pretty much takes away the fun.  With that taken out of the equation, the box's contents equaled its price.  Not too impressive, imo.  Glossybox had an amazing box with products I'll surely use.  With a value 3x its cost I was pleased.  Finally, Ipsy had my favorite Glam Bag yet, with killer products that were all full sized or deluxe sized, and also had a value of over 3x its cost.

THE WINNER
This is one of the closest match-ups for me.  It certainly goes without saying that Birchbox comes in 3rd.  Now to choose a winner between Ipsy and Glossybox.  While I want to declare a tie, it's unfair to you guys and I really think that ties are a cop-out anyways :-).  So I'm going to have to go with Glossybox only because I think that looking at all of the items at once, I will certainly use those from my Glossybox on a more frequent occasion compared to Ipsy.  But it's so close.  Like almost a negligible difference!  So there we have it: 1. Glossybox, 2. Ipsy, 3. Birchbox.

Who would you pick as the winner?  Did I get it right?

xo
