Kids Craft ~ DIY Bookmarks

Hey lovelies!  The other night, the kids and I were all reading and realized that we had no bookmarks!  My wheels instantly began turning, and in a few minutes, I had the kids crafting! {More after the break}

What you'll need:

  • Cardboard (I used the sleeve from my Birchbox)
  • Ribbon (again, from two Birchboxes!  I love to upcycle!)
  • Scrapbook paper (from my March Whimseybox)
  • Sharpies (from my March Whimseybox)
  • Glue Stick (also from my March Whimseybox)
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch

I cut the sides off of the cardboard sleeve and used those for the base of the bookmarks (they measure about 2" x 6" I think) and had the kids each pick a sheet of paper they liked.

We punched a hole at the top of each cardboard piece

Then the kids covered the cardboard with the glue stick, and put the paper on top.  (Action shot of Bella!)

Then they cut the excess paper and punched the hole through the paper, using the cardboard one as a guide.  (Action shot of JT!)

Ready to decorate!

They then used the sharpies to personalize the back of their bookmarks.

Bella!

JT the dude!

When they were done decorating, we looped the ribbon through the hole and pulled the ends through the loop.  Voila!

So cute right?  It's such an easy project to do with the kids to pass time, occupy them, keep them from arguing, etc.  You probably have the materials on hand!
