DIY ~ Bracelet Holder

Happy Friday, lovelies!  Ahhh organization... it's such a necessary evil, isn't it?  I have piles of baubles covering my dresser and I *try* to keep them organized, but I seriously have no idea where anything is or what I even have.  I'm very visual; I need to see things.  I was thinking about bracelet organization, and was thinking of those velvety displays you see that hold bracelets.... you'll never guess what I made this from.... {How to after the jump}

You'll need: about a third of a yard of velvety fabric, 4 toilet paper tubes (or 1 tp tube and 1 paper towel tube), duct tape, a lid, scissors, and a glue gun.

If you're using tp tubes, tape them together using the duct tape.

Now cover the whole tube in duct tape, adding an additional layer over the joints you taped together earlier.

Don't focus on it looking pretty, this is just for reinforcement.  We're going to cover the whole thing anyways :)

Measure how much fabric you'll need and trim.

Fold one end over and secure to the tube with hot glue.

Trim the excess away.

Fold the rest over, securing with hot glue.  Repeat on the opposite side, then fold the remaining up and secure it well with hot glue.

Now we're going to do the same thing on the other side.  First trim the excess.

Fold, glue, and secure!

Now cover your extra roll just around the surface area; we're not going to need to cover the ends. (*note, this was a thicker tube of cardboard I found in my son's room, which is why I didn't reinforce it with duct tape.  If you're using a tp tube, first reinforce it with duct tape before velvetizing it.

Do the same for the lid, only covering the top and sides.

Here's our ready to assemble pieces!

Apply hot glue to the circumference of one end of the small tube.  Push it onto the top of the lid.

Apply hot glue to the open end's circumference, and place the long tube horizontally, centered on it.  Push firmly for a good 30 seconds.

Then flip it over and press firmly for another 30 seconds or so.  We want to make sure everything is secure!

Now load on your bracelets and display your organized wrist candy on this beautiful stand!  Make sure you distribute the weight evenly on the stand so it won't tip over.

No one will ever guess how you made it :)  I love projects that use upcycled materials, they really are some of my favorites.  In all, this took about 20 minutes to make, and I used materials I had on hand (and in the recycling bin!)  So this cost absolutely nothing to make!  Get creative, use an old flannel shirt if you don't have fabric on hand.  Is this something you'll make?  Let me know if you do!

  2. Really clever and this out really well! These are so expensive to buy and usually in gray, so getting to choose the color is really nice.

  8. what a great idea! I always just throw mine into a big jewelry organizer but it doesn't really organize as much as keep them in one place haha
