DIY Statement Necklace

Hi lovelies!  I made this fun statement necklace a little bit ago and thought I'd share the easy steps with you!  I love the interesting mix of textures and colors/metals which make it go with anything!  {More after the break}

You'll need:

  • Faceted beads in 2 colors (depending on how you want them to look, it's totally up to you!)
  • Gold chain (about 2 ft)
  • Leather cord
  • Beading string
  • Toggle closure
  • 2 large jump rings
  • 5 small jump rings
  • Jewelry pliers (not pictured)
  • Super glue (not pictured)

String your beads in the desired pattern on the beading string.  Leave excess string on either end.  Use this as your guide length and cut/pry apart your chain about 4 inches longer than this.  Do the same with the leather cord, making it about 6 inches longer.

Tie the beading string a few links down from one end of the chain, secure the knot with super glue and trim excess.  Do the same with the leather cord.  Now just braid the three strands together!  When you finish, tie and glue the same way.

Since the chain is too thick for my toggle clasp, I added the 5 smaller jump rings to the closure so it could slide through the hole.  Use the large jump rings to attach either end of the toggle closure to the necklace.

And that's all!  Easy, quick, and a great high impact piece that looks equally fabulous on its own as it does layered!

Let me know what you think!
xx
